Student Leadership Expeditions

At World Expeditions Schools, we believe leadership can blossom through lived experiences. Our programs develop thoughtful, resilient, values-based leaders by providing students with real-world opportunities to observe, practice, review and refine leadership styles.

We create positive environments for students to opt-in, see ethical leadership in action, de-brief their learnings, and return home equipped with the self-esteem and awareness to lead with integrity.

Before departure, we work with your school to align the program to your desired learning outcomes.

Developing Leaders via Scaffolded Learning

Students work in small “leadership groups” with their teachers and Guides for a day or two at a time. They then observe their fellow students before it’s their turn again. This rotation allows for facilitated comparison, discussion and improvement of leadership traits such as:

• Leadership of self: Responsible, Resilient, Principled, Organised, Accountable
• Leadership of others: Inspire, Engage, Include, Consult, Empathise, Encourage
• Critical thinking & Ethical decision-making
• Personal Skills: Awareness, Kindness, Honesty, Selfless, Integrity, Say:Do Ratio
• Social Skills: Listening, Supportive, Approachable, Compassionate, Collaborative

We provide frameworks like Stop/Start/Continue, Plan/Do/Review and Leadership Top Tips, to increase awareness of how actions/decisions can have rewards/consequences for self, other and the environment.

Learning Ethical Leadership From Global Leaders

Our partnership with world-class NGOs, who lead sustainable education, conservation and community development projects linked to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, provide the platform.

Students observe, engage with and learn how these organisations make complex ethical decisions, use evidence driven impact assessments, and balance long-term outcomes for communities they serve.

Whether assisting with water filter installations, participating in habitat restoration, or contributing to disadvantaged youth & women empowerment programs, students gain insight into real-world and ethical leadership far beyond their classroom.

Students return home with greater cultural humility, emotional resilience and the confidence to navigate an increasingly challenging world.
